Say no to the Pope

The Pope has criticised UK equality laws, including the Equality Bill that is currently before parliament. This attack comes ahead of the pontiff's State Visit to Britain, scheduled for September this year.

With a terrace opening out onto Times Square, it's perhaps unsurprising that this bar, initially aimed at the gay audience, is now perhaps not as gay as it once intended and is a popular watering hole of preclubbers in Newcastle.

IDAHO : International Day Against Homophobia IDAHO : International Day Against Homophobia
It's difficult to envisage in the relatively open society in which we live in the UK, Europe and Australia, that there are an astonishing 77 countries who punish women, men and children because of their sexuality. But then, it was only in 1990 that the World Health Organisation removed homosexuality from their list of mental disorders. IDAHO - International Day Against Homophobia - exists to provoke action to end Homophobia. A number of events are planned for 17th May 2007, International Day Against Homophobia, around the world. We've listed a few here, so please do attend and show your support.

While politics and community issues may seem like a distraction to partying the night away, lunching with friends or shopping for the latest designer gear, it is, nevertheless, imperative that everyone in the UK – gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender or straight, makes time for an organisation such as Stonewall.
