Jimmegee ain't hibernating

Turn on, tune in, cop out. Well you'll definitely get the first two with Jimmegee. As for the copping out bit you may be waiting a long time – as Jimmegee explores the dancefloor and the lives that rotate around it. Old enough to have those 80's originals and yet young enough to appreciate the 21st Century twist those same sounds now take, let Jimmygee take you on a trip. Electronically flavoured of course.

OK, here’s a shocker for you: I haven’t been to a club since the end of August. Oh. My. God. What on earth has happened? I had a random facebook conversation with a friend the other day (who I haven’t seen since, well, the end of August) who admitted to not going out dancing since Brighton Pride in early August. Now, this is a guy who is ALWAYS out whenever I am. I mean, he and his lovely boyfriend appear to be permanently attached to the club scene in Brighton and here they are, admitting that the attractions of gardening, cleaning the inside of the kitchen cupboards and Strictly Come Dancing are preventing them from going out and leaping around every available dancefloor on a regular basis.

Ladies and gentlemen, what the hell is going on? This cannot be put down to being too old because a) I’m too old already - did I tell you it’s my 40th next year? - b) there are lots of older people on the scene than me and c) getting old does not necessarily mean suddenly being rendered incapable of putting one foot in front of the other on the dancefloor.

No, I have to say, I think I’m just a little bored with my local scene, and winter is setting in. I’ll get over it. There are lots of reasons to get over it too. First of all, G-A-Y has moved to Heaven in London, which has to be cause for celebration because it basically means that one of the best gay club nights in the UK has moved to one of the best club venues in the UK, ergo it’s going to be a huge smasheroony.

Secondly, there are rumours that Monkey is returning to Brighton, which is great news because I like a bit of dirty, sweaty, boysy house and Brighton’s been missing that for a while. Thirdly, the students are back in our biggest towns and cities, bringing with them a new term of vibrancy and fun. Winter is a much-underrated clubbing season but what better time of the year to snuggle up to hundreds of sweaty buggers and go wild. Right, what are you all doing this weekend?
