Winter Pride 2008

The wind maybe blowing, the rain maybe falling but as long as we have Pride there’s something to celebrate! And February 2008 looks like providing us with many reasons to be cheerful as Pride In Brighton & Hove present Winter Pride, the largest LGBT winter festival in the UK.

Running from Saturday the 2nd February to Sunday the 10th February Winter Pride 2008 boasts over 70 events in over 35 venues. Community groups, businesses and volunteers will ensure our winter days stay bright and our winter nights right as live music, sport events, workshops, club nights, cabaret, comedy and a little mud wrestling gather under the banner that is Winter Pride 2008. REALBrighton will, of course, be running around trying to capture as much of the action as possible!

Highlights include twelve events grant funded by Pride. Organised by LGBT community and voluntary groups they’ll provide a range from activities as diverse as nude swims, conferences, lectures, comedy workshops and music. Be it an evening of 17th & 18th Century baroque music, BLAGSS 10-pin bowling, the first Wotever weekender, a Eighties Trans disco or a Trans film night each will ensure our diverse community is well served this winter.

Local businesses are always vital supporters of Winter Pride and 2008 is no exception as they deliver a dazzling array of entertainment. Whatever tickles your fancy; quizzes, cabaret, music, karaoke, casino nights, comedy nights or lesbian mud wrestling you’ll find it at Brighton & Hove Winter Pride. From panto to cycle marathons, stand-up comedy to a fetish bazaars or fancy dress there’s something for everyone. Add special club and cabaret nights from Sunday Sundae at Audio, Girls on Top at Revenge, Religion at Charles St, Legends, R-Bar, Queens Arms and The Zone and you’ll not have an excuse to kill off those winter blues this February.

And if that’s not to encourage you off your sofa? Worry not. Tune into Juice 107.2FM on Monday 4th-Friday 8th and help the presenters solve some of Brighton mysteries! Every time they get a question right a donation will go to Pride.

Winter Pride 2008... A welcome ray of sunshine that not only raises valuable funds for the charity Pride in Brighton & Hove but enables Pride to support smaller community groups through out all areas of the LGBT community. Make sure you’re part of it.
