community newsBananarama to start Manchester PrideSunday, 3 May 2009 Bananarama has been confirmed as the opening act for the main stage at Manchester Pride 2009. The band, whose hits include Venus and Cruel Summer, will perform on Friday 28th August – the first night of Manchester Pride Big Weekend. Other acts confirmed for the festival include, The Whip, The Blow Wave and Booty Luv. Tickets for the Big Weekend are now on sale and can be purchased at www.manchesterpride.com or at various venues around the city. Early bird tickets for the festival’s four-day Big Weekend, which runs from 28 – 31 August, cost £12.50 plus booking fee and are available until 30 June. From 1 July tickets will cost £17.50 plus booking fee. Jackie Crozier, festival manager of Manchester Pride, said: “It’s become something of a tradition that we have a big 80’s act to open the main stage on the first night and you can’t get more 80’s than Bananarama!”
